Prior to beginning work on a historic building it is advisable to contract with a preservation architect or consultant who can provide a Historic Structures Report and/or Building Condition Assessment. A Building Condition Assessment is a brief report detailing the existing condition of the building and general recommendations for its repair and maintenance. A Historic Structures Report provides more detailed information on the building and suggestions, based on the owners planned use, for its restoration and/or rehabilitation.
